In recent weeks we’ve made two announcements regarding fee reductions, to Post Results Services and A Level Science Practical’s. It’s all part of our commitment to reduce the financial burden of assessment for those outside of mainstream education.
Well, we’re at it again! With immediate effect we’re reducing all our GCSE language fees.
‘Mainstream’ languages; French, German and Spanish entry fees are reduced by £35, down from £334 to £299. Compare that to some exam centres charging £380!
‘Lesser taught languages; Bengali, Chinese, Greek, Gujarati, Italian, Japanese, Modern Hebrew, Panjabi, Persian, Portuguese, Russian, Turkish and Urdu entry fees are reduced by £60, down from £399 to £339. Compare that to some exam centres charging £450!
And Arabic witnesses the biggest reduction of all, with the entry fees reduced from £399 to £270, a reduction of almost 1/3rd!
Why the price differential between ‘mainstream’ and ‘lesser taught languages’? Chiefly it’s because Awarding Organisations charge a higher entry fee for lesser taught languages and assessor costs are typically higher as there are fewer language ‘specialists’ available.
How have we manged these reductions? Well, quite simply, we’ve been working hard behind the scenes to streamline our administration process and negotiated new rates we pay assessors to conduct language oral tests that are an integral part of GCSE Language assessment. The quality of assessment remains as high as ever. The only thing to fall is the price. Where we save, so do you!
