Subject Specific Tutors
Debra J. Adamson-Brattland, M.Mus, PGCE
Debra has extensive experience as a Music Educator and is in great demand. Her GCSE, A Level and Music Theory Courses attract some of the UK’s most talented young musicians, many of whom attend the Junior Departments at the Royal College, Royal Academy of Music, London and Trinity Guildhall, London. Graded ‘outstanding’ by OFSTED is testament to the rewarding learning experience she provides.
Since 2018 Debra has focused solely on providing the tuition and coursework assessment of GCSE and A Level Music for Private Candidates. Prior to turning freelance, she held Director of Music positions in several educational settings.
Debra has a Master’s Degree in Music, Postgraduate Certificate in Education (Qualified Teacher Status), an Honours Degree in Music and other performing and teaching diplomas. She is an Associated Board Music Examiner (Theory) and since 2018 has been an approved tutor and assessor of A level and GCSE Music for a private examination centre in Hampshire (Faregos). In 2023 Debra became a Learning Partner for Tutors and Exams (Doncaster) providing candidates in the more Northerly regions of the UK also the opportunity to access these courses.
In addition to teaching, Debra regularly performs on classical guitar. She has appeared as both soloist and chamber musician at several Festivals in the UK, including the Guitar Festival of Great Britain, the Cannington International Guitar Festival, and the Dillington Guitar Festival. In Norway she was invited to present a concert for King Harald V and to perform on TV. She toured extensively throughout Norway and the UK with her late husband Arne Brattland. Debra performs as a duo with Carlos Bonell and together they pioneered a Benefit Concert in 2022 for the Ukraine. In 2023 the duo responded to the Anglo Latin American Foundation’s request to raise funds for disadvantaged children in Latin America, performing at the Bolivar Hall, London (The Venezuelan Embassy). In June 2023 Debra recorded her CD ‘Lullaby’ with renowned recording engineer and producer, John Taylor.

Hi, I’m Nicky Tweedle, the founder of Tweedle’s Biology Tuition, providing online individual tuition and group interactive masterclasses for A-level Biology.
My credentials and background? A PGCE Biology, a BSc Hons 2:1 in Microbiology and over 29 years’ teaching experience including over 14 years tutoring A-level Biology full time to over 800 tutees as individuals or groups. Over 17,000 hours tutoring specifically for AQA and OCR A-level Biology syllabi. Recent examining experience.
I can demonstrate excellent results with all tutees improving beyond their target grade. Many successful potential Medics, Vets, Dentists and Biology students have gained A* in Biology A-level and managed to secure a place at their first choice University following weekly tuition.
Many tutees are in full-time education with my tuition supplementing their studies. However, I love to take ownership of student’s A-level Biology teaching where they are home educated or entering the examinations as private candidates.
I am a very approachable, friendly tutor with a wealth of knowledge regarding examination techniques. I’m able to simplify all theory ensuring the tutees build on their basic knowledge and then secure full understanding. I endeavour to ensure all theory is grounded before applying the knowledge to examination style questions.
When I’m not tutoring I love spending time with my husband and son. I am very sporty and a day cannot pass by without exercise. I love to snowboard, play squash and netball plus enjoy time in the outdoors with our dog!

Examination Support
Undertaking exams from home can be a daunting experience. Making sure that your child is on target to achieve his or her life goals is an overwhelming responsibility, and without the support of a school many parents feel confused as to how they can measure their child’s progress.
Mark My Papers enables home-educated pupils to access teaching professionals who mark officially for the leading public exam boards, particularly Cambridge (CAIE) and Edexcel at iGCSE level; these being the most popular exam boards for home-educators. Marking is subjective and understanding how to interpret the AOs (Assessment Objectives) is a finely tuned skill.
- We can mark regularly, occasionally or as a preparation for exams.
- Sometimes our home-educating students need guidance as to which specification is still current – we are happy to support such needs and play a role in your home-education journey.
- Making sure that home-education can still offer up wide opportunities through passing public exams is a major concern for some families and we can bring reassurance.
- MMP feedback is very detailed and we suggest you allow plenty of time for your child to work on tips for improvement.
