Yes, youโve read that right! For many learners studying Cambridge International A and AS Level Sciences, finding a private exam centre that will host the mandatory practical component has long been a barrier to completing their qualification. Well, no longer.
We are delighted to announce that arc exams now offers Cambridge International A/AS Level Science practical assessments, for both the Autumn and Summer exam series, providing a valuable new pathway for independent learners, home-educated students and distance learning candidates.
Unlike UK A Level science practicalโs, Cambridge International science practicals are timetabled, just like written papers. These are the timetabled dates we will be hosting practicals for the Autumn 2026 and Summer 2027 exam series:

Until now, many private candidates have only been able to complete the full International science A Level by carrying forward a practical result from a previous AS Level sitting, providing it was sat within the last 13 months of sitting the A level components. While this remains a valid route for some learners, it is not suitable for everyone.
Our new practical assessment service changes that.
Students who are taking their science qualification for the first time, be it the two AS components only or all four components required to claim the full A level, can now access the practical component in either the Autumn or Summer exam series.
By introducing Cambridge International A/AS Level practicals, arc exams is helping to remove one of the most significant obstacles faced by private candidates. Learners can now access both their written examinations and the required practical assessments through a trusted, specialist private examination centre.
